Our Story
The story of how Spring Valley Community Church was established began over 25 years ago. In 1981, Daniel McNaughton (SVCC’s lead pastor) had the opportunity to help start a church in Mexico City as part of a team from his home church in Dallas, Texas. That experience birthed in him a desire to plant churches. He thought he would become a foreign missionary but the Lord had other plans. He directed Daniel and his wife, Amy, to help plant two churches in the Boston area. As Daniel worked toward earning his MATS and Ph.D. degrees, he served as an assistant pastor in Buffalo, NY, and Toronto, Ontario. Following those roles, he moved to Pennsylvania in 1995 to teach in the Church Ministries Department at Valley Forge Christian College. During those years, the desire to plant churches never left; throughout that time he kept a notebook and a computer file of ideas related to church planting.
In 2003, Daniel felt a stirring to be involved in a church plant in this area. He began to feel the pain of sorrow for the many local people who do not know Jesus. He prayed, “Lord, send someone who can reach these people and I will help.” Through a series of circumstances, Daniel came to believe that God was speaking to him about starting a church for people who don’t normally go to church. The Lord provided financial resources and a gifted leadership team to help launch Spring Valley Community Church.
In September of 2005, Spring Valley Community Church held its Grand Opening Service and 237 people showed up. SVCC continues, by God’s grace, to reach out to over 90,000 people in the Royersford, Spring City, and Collegeville areas with the message of hope through Jesus.
